Applied Structural Drying (ASD)

*WRT is a requirement for certification in this category This course
helps train the student to dry the entire structure from top to
bottom using various pieces of equipment and methods of drying,
with the use of a fully equipped and furnished home exposed to the
elements. The student will perform the techniques required to guarantee
the job is dry.
The course teaches the student to dry:
- Hardwood flooring
- Different styles of carpets
- Different installations of carpets
- Underpad
- Subflooring (different types, e.g. OSB, plywood)
- Contents on site
- Wall cavities
- Crawlspace
- HVAC ductwork
- Metal studs
- Insulation
- Finish trim
- Doors / windows
- Furnishings
Students get first hand experience with full participation from
the class in all areas to include:
- Extraction methods
- Using psychrometry to make educated decisions in drying daily
- Extensive monitoring of the jobsite with interactive classroom
/ jobsite training
- Class participation in all phases of the extraction process
and drying techniques
This class is open to technicians, business owners, insurance adjusters,
insurance agents, property management / real estate industry agents
and anyone interested in learning how to dry structures properly.
